Oyster Bay Fire Department Responds to Bayville For Mutual Aid

On the afternoon of Saturday September 17th, the Bayville Fire Company was alerted for a reported gas main break off of West Harbor Road. They were met with a two and a half inch gas main that had broken in a residential neighborhood. Given the close proximity of houses evacuations were in order. The Oyster Bay Fire Department was alerted for an Engine to respond to the scene. Engine 558 responded to assist the Bayville Fire Department. Members from Engine 8 assisted in evacuation measures and securing the scene. Members were then released from the scene and ordered to respond to Bayville Fire Headquarters for stand by. Members stood by at the fire house for about half an hour while Bayville Fire Company units became available from the scene. Oyster Bay operated in Bayville for about an hour with no reported injuries.
