On Tuesday Feb. 15th 2005, the Oyster Bay Fire Departments were alerted for a Building Fire at the Cold Spring Harbor Labs. While enroute Chief DeCarolis was notified that Security was confirming there had been a fire and it was extinguished. All units continued in to the scene. Upon arrival they were met with a fire that had extended into the walls. Engine 8 was the acting truck on scene and using hand tools and the Thermal Imaging Camera overhauled the fire room and detected the extension of fire and extinguished it. The Oyster Bay Fire Company ambulance was requested to respond in to the scene for a worker in the building who had injured his hand while trying to extinguish the fire. Chief DeCarolis was in command assisted by Chief Mantegari Jr.
