Due to the structural damage that Nobman’s Hardware endured on Jan. 24, 2005 many areas of the building were not reachable by firefighters due to unsafe conditions. This meant a busy day for the Oyster Bay Fire Department. After securing from the initial alarm around 05:00hrs on Monday, firefighters only had about 2 hours downtime before the next alarm was received for the same location. The Oyster Bay Fire Department responded again in full force to extinguish the smoldering building materials inside. All in all, the Oyster Bay Fire Department responded back to Nobman’s Hardware 3 times in the 24 hours following the initial alarm. The last alarm for Nobman’s was received shortly after 03:00 hrs on Tuesday Jan. 25th 2005.
