At approximately 23:46 on February 16, 2008, the Oyster Bay Fire Companies responded to a report of an attic fire at 24 Laurel Cove Road in Cove Neck. The fire turned out to be an oil burner puff back.
After securing the house, Oyster Bay chiefs received a report of a 4 car auto accident at the intersection on Northern Blvd and Cove Road. Upon the arrival of chiefs, the alarm was transmitted and units were on scene immediately due to the close proximity of the previous alarm.
There were a total of 4 cars, 1 of which was overturned. NCPD ambulance 2352 and numerous NCPD and Oyster Bay Cove PD untis were already on scene. Oyster Bay Fire Department and Atlantic Steamer Fire Co.#1 operated to secure all of the vehicles involved in the accident and Oyster Bay Fire Department ambulances 5516 and 5526 transported 2 patients to the Nassau County Medical Center.
Atlantic Steamer Ladder 551, Rescue 555, Oyster Bay Fire Department Engine 558 and ambulances 5516 and 5526 operated at the scene under command of Chief Frank Mantegari. The units were released at approximatley 00:30.
