At 18:49 hrs on September 25, 2007, the Oyster Bay Fire Department was alerted for mutual aid to the Glen Cove Fire Department requesting an Engine to the scene of a working building fire at 99 Glen Street in downtown Glen Cove.
Oyster Bay Engine 552 responded to the scene. Shortly after, another request from Glen Cove Fire Department was received asking for Tower Ladder 554 to stand-by at the Glen Cove Fire Department Headquarters.
Upon arriving at the scene of the fire, Oyster Bay chiefs were requested to have our crew report to the roof of the exposure 4 side to assist in ventilation, and extinguishment. The fire was in a 3 story vacant building with extension into 2 additional buildings. One of the Oyster Bay Firefighters was injured during operations and was transported to the Glen Cove Hospital with minor injures and was released that night. The fire was brought under control at 9:28pm, and Oyster Bay Firefighters were back in the fire station by 10pm.
