Oyster Bay Firefighters Celebrate Milestone for one of their own

On Saturday March 4th 2006, the Oyster Bay Fire Department held its annual dinner dance and installation of Officers for the upcoming year. Tonight was a very special night for the men and women of the Oyster Bay Fire Department as they dedicated it to the newest 50 year member of the department Ex-Chief Hollis Hale.

Hollis joined the company on August 15th 1955. Hollis began his firefighting career where the fire house was originally located on Summit Street. He was the first appointed engineer by Ex-Chief Joseph Bennett.
Hollis is a past member of the Nassau County Fire Chief’s Organization, the Nassau County Fireman’s Association, and the North Shore Fire Council. He is a current member of FASNY and the 5th Battalion Chief’s Organization. Hollis served as a Trustee, 2nd Assistant Chief, 1st Assistant Chief, and as Chief of Department from 1969-1970.

Hollis served in the US Navy and is a past Superintendent of the Oyster Bay Water District.
